about

The Bideford Witch Trials of 1682 resulted in the hanging of Temperance Lloyd, Mary Trembles and Susannah Edwards at Heavitree in Exeter. They were the last women to be hung for witchcraft in England, and this song is dedicated to their memory. “In the hope of an end to persecution and intolerance” (Memorial plaque at Rougemont Castle, Exeter)
