about

Caroline Herschel was born in what is now Germany in 1750. She had an illness when she was a little girl which meant that she never grew past four foot three. Because of this, her parents decided she wouldn't get married, and therefore they trained her as a servant. She ended up working for her brother. She was a keen musician, and dreamed of becoming a singer, but her brother became very interested in astronomy. He uprooted them from their life in Germany, and brought them over to live in England - where Caroline was very homesick. She started helping her brother with his astronomical observations; and ended up becoming the first woman to receive the Gold Medal from the Royal Astronomical Society, amongst many other accolades. This is a song of hope and courage against adversity.
